Rawalpindi Board Matric List of Toppers 2026

Posted on August 5, 2026August 5, 2026 by Sara Khan

Rawalpindi Board Matric Toppers: Nine Things Students Get Wrong About the Position List

The Potohar region sends a particular kind of candidate into the matric examination. Rawalpindi Board’s affiliated network takes in a heavy concentration of army public schools, cadet institutions and long-established government high schools across Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal — places where examination discipline is part of the culture and where the top of the position list is genuinely fought over.

It is also a board where a lot of confident misinformation circulates every year. Working through the common errors covers more useful ground than a straight overview would.

Wrong: “The topper is whoever scored highest in 10th class.”

The board ranks on 1100 marks — 550 from SSC Part-I and 550 from SSC Part-II combined.

This one misunderstanding accounts for most of the confusion on result day. A student can post the best 10th class figure in their school, in their district, occasionally in the board, and still finish outside the top three because their 9th class result was ordinary. Half the aggregate was already fixed before the final session began.

The position list

General group

Entered from the board’s signed notification, and from nothing else.

Wrong: “Any candidate with a high enough aggregate makes the list.”

Only regular candidates appearing in the annual examination are ranked.

Private candidates fall outside the criteria whatever they scored. Supplementary candidates and students who improved marks in a later attempt are also excluded — the improved figure sits on their documents but does not enter the ranking. And if an unfair-means proceeding is pending, the board holds that candidate off the notification until the case closes.

Where two candidates land on the same aggregate, a joint position can be declared.

Wrong: “The screenshot going round on WhatsApp is the topper list.”

Fabricated position lists appear within an hour of every result, complete with names, marks and sometimes photographs. They are not sourced from a board document. We publish names only after the official notification, which is slower and considerably less exciting, and also correct.

Wrong: “The official website is the only way to check.”

It is the slowest way on result day, because everyone is on it at once.

To pull your marksheet here: open the BISE Rawalpindi result page, enter your roll number exactly as printed, select your class — 10th Class, SSC Part-II and Matric all resolve to the same record — select the exam year, and click Search Result.

Subject-wise marks, aggregate, grade and status appear in one view, for Science and General group alike. Urdu readers can use راولپنڈی بورڈ میٹرک رزلٹ.

If it returns nothing, the year selection is the usual culprit rather than the roll number.

Wrong: “Practical marks are a formality.”

Thirty marks. Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Computer Science carry 75 each, split 65 written and 10 practical.

That is more than the gap that typically separates first position from fourth in this board. It is also the only block of marks on the entire sheet that can be secured before the theory examinations begin, on the strength of a notebook completed on schedule and a viva you prepared for.

For reference, the rest of the Science group Part-II structure: English 75, Urdu 75, Mathematics 75, Islamiyat or Ethics 50, Pakistan Studies 50. General group students carry the same language and compulsory weighting with General Science and General Mathematics at 75 each and two electives at 75 apiece.

Wrong: “My percentage is 82, so my grade should be A1 regardless.”

Grade is calculated on the two-year aggregate.

GradePercentage
A180 and above
A70 – 79
B60 – 69
C50 – 59
D40 – 49
E33 – 39
Fbelow 33

A strong Part-II sitting on top of a weak Part-I produces a grade that feels unfair to the student and is arithmetically correct.

Wrong: “Rechecking means the paper gets marked again.”

It does not, and this misunderstanding costs students both money and hope.

Rechecking verifies the addition, confirms that every question was actually marked and checks that no page was skipped. It is clerical verification. Nobody re-reads your essay and forms a fresh opinion of it.

Which tells you when to apply. A subject that came back twelve marks below every mock you ever wrote is worth checking — a totalling error is plausible. A subject where you simply hoped for a more generous read is not. Fee and deadline are notified with the result.

Wrong: “Failing a paper means losing the year.”

The supplementary examination runs within the same academic year, and clearing it keeps most college admission timelines intact. The real risk is missing the registration window announced after the annual result, which turns a few months into a full year.

Wrong: “Students from small towns can’t compete here.”

Four districts sit under this board — Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal — and positions are declared across all of them together.

Institutions in the region tend to run structured internal testing calendars, and the students who reach the position list are usually the ones who treated those internal tests as though they counted. That is a habit, not a resource. It transfers to a government high school in Chakwal as easily as to a large Rawalpindi institution.

The rest of the pattern, from talking to enough position holders over enough years:

Weekly chapter tests, marked honestly — marking yourself generously is the fastest route to arriving at the board examination overconfident. A subject-wise error log kept all year and reviewed in the final fortnight. Board past papers from several sessions, written under exam timing rather than read. Deliberate work on the weakest paper rather than the favourite one. And sleep in the final week, because students who sit the Physics paper on four hours of rest make arithmetic errors on content they know perfectly.

A few straight answers

Are the toppers announced with the result? Typically alongside the notification, occasionally shortly after.

Do cadet college and army public school students appear on the list? Any regular candidate from an institution affiliated with the board is eligible, whatever type of school it is.

Can I check without a roll number? No — it is how the gazette record is located.

Where are earlier sessions’ position holders? Past lists stay published here, organised by year.

Roll number slip lost? Your school office holds the board-issued list for your institution.
