Gujranwala Board Matric List of Toppers, District by District
Six districts feed into BISE Gujranwala, and they do not resemble each other much. Sialkot has a long institutional record and sends candidates who have been prepared for the position race since 9th class. Narowal’s strength sits in its government schools. Mandi Bahauddin and Hafizabad have smaller candidatures and turn up on the merit list often enough that nobody treats them as a surprise any more.
So rather than a single flat overview, this page works through the board the way it actually exists — as a region of six competing pools ranked against each other on one list.

District: Gujranwala
The headquarters district and the largest single contributor of candidates. A dense mix of long-established government high schools and a private sector that has expanded fast around the city.
Students here have the easiest access to past-paper collections, evening coaching and lab facilities. That advantage is real, and it is also the reason a Gujranwala candidate who finishes fourth has less excuse than a Mandi Bahauddin candidate who finishes fourth.
District: Sialkot
Sialkot institutions have a reputation for pushing students into the top three, and the reputation is earned through internal testing culture more than anything else. Schools here tend to run monthly assessments that are marked seriously, which means students arrive at the board examination having already sat something resembling it several times.
If you are studying anywhere else in the board and want to copy one thing, copy that: honest self-marking against the official scheme, monthly, all year.
District: Gujrat
A large candidature with a strong government-sector presence and a notable number of students from families with overseas connections, which sometimes means disrupted attendance in the middle of the session. The students who manage that well tend to be the ones who keep a written syllabus tracker rather than relying on memory of what was covered while they were away.
District: Narowal
Narowal’s government high schools produce merit-list candidates fairly regularly, usually students who worked from the Punjab textbook and past papers without much else. Worth saying plainly, because students in smaller districts often assume expensive guides are the difference. They are not. The examinable syllabus is in the textbook.
District: Mandi Bahauddin
Smaller candidature, competitive at the top. Access to well-equipped science laboratories varies between institutions here, which makes the practical component something to confirm early rather than assume. Thirty marks are attached to it.
District: Hafizabad
The smallest pool in the board. A student topping Hafizabad district is competing board-wide on the same aggregate as everyone else, and there is no district quota that softens the comparison.
How the six districts are ranked against each other
One list, one criterion, no regional adjustment.
The aggregate is 1100 marks: 550 from SSC Part-I and 550 from SSC Part-II. That two-year total is the whole basis. A student who scored 545 in 9th class and 530 in 10th finishes above a student who scored 500 and 545, even though the second student had the better final year.
Beyond the number, the filters are:
- Regular candidates in the annual examination only
- Private, supplementary and improvement-of-marks candidates excluded
- Science and General group ranked as separate lists
- Joint position possible where aggregates tie
- A pending unfair-means case holds a candidate off the notification until decided

The mark structure behind all of it
Science group students sit eight papers in Part-II worth 550 marks in total. English, Urdu and Mathematics carry 75 each. Islamiyat or Ethics and Pakistan Studies carry 50 each. Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Computer Science carry 75 apiece, split 65 written and 10 practical.
General group students carry the same English, Urdu, Islamiyat and Pakistan Studies weighting, with General Science and General Mathematics at 75 each and two elective subjects at 75 apiece, chosen according to what the institution registered.

Five habits that show up wherever the topper is from
District does not change these.
Revision runs on a schedule rather than on anxiety — chapters revisited on fixed days through the year, not compressed into three frantic weeks.
Short questions are taken as seriously as long ones, because in matric papers that section carries real weight and rewards pure repetition.
Practical work is finished early. Thirty marks, available before the theory papers even begin.
Answers respond to what was asked. Padding a long answer does not score better; the marking scheme has points and the points collect marks.
And one weak subject gets deliberate attention all year. Look at your Part-I marksheet — the paper where you dropped fifteen marks is the paper standing between you and a position.
After the gazette
If a total looks wrong, apply for rechecking inside the window the board announces. It verifies addition, confirms every question was marked and checks for skipped pages. It is clerical. Your answers are not graded a second time.
If a paper was failed, the supplementary examination runs in the same academic year and keeps a college session salvageable.

Are Sialkot and Narowal students in the same position race as Gujranwala city? Yes. One board, one list, six districts.
When are the toppers announced? Generally with the result notification; sometimes shortly after.
Does the notification include marks alongside names? It typically lists the aggregate with each position holder, which is what the tables above carry.
My grade looks lower than my percentage suggests. Grade is calculated on the 1100 aggregate, not on Part-II alone.
