Issue Found in FBISE Matric Position Holder 2026

Posted on July 30, 2026July 30, 2026 by Sara Khan

Every year the Federal Board’s position holder page travels faster than the result itself. Somebody photographs it off a printout, it lands in a school WhatsApp group by lunchtime, principals pin it to the notice board, and by evening three names have become the ones everyone remembers from that session.

This year one of those screenshots stopped a family in Islamabad short. The marks printed against the third position in the science group are lower than the marks printed on their daughter’s own result card.

That is the entire issue in one line. The gazette awards third position to a candidate with 1086 marks. A result card issued by the same board, for the same examination, shows 1087 marks against a student from Bahria Foundation College, F-11/3, Islamabad.

One mark. But in a position list, one mark is the whole argument.

What the science group gazette lists

The page in question carries the heading Position Holders SSC-II 1st Annual Examination, 2026 — Science Group, issued by the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Islamabad. Three names appear on it.

Third10861037758Huzaifa HaiderFazaia Inter College, Jinnah Camp, Khanna Road, Rawalpindi Cantt

Look at the marks column on its own: 1089, 1088, 1086. Three students separated by three marks, and the run skips a number. There is no 1087 on the page.

That gap is where this story sits.

A result card that breaks the order

The second document is an SSC Part-II result card for the 1st Annual Examination 2026 — the same session, the same board, the same paper set.

1087 sits between the second position (1088) and the printed third position (1086). On a straight merit sort, that card belongs on the position holder page and the name currently at third belongs at fourth.

Before anyone argues about it, the obvious objection has to be cleared first — and it does not survive a look at the card.

The most common reason a student thinks they were skipped for a position is that they compared the wrong totals. Matric position at the Federal Board is decided on the combined SSC Part-I plus SSC Part-II aggregate out of 1100, not on Part-II alone. Every year hundreds of students look at a strong Part-II performance, compare it against a position holder’s combined figure, and reach a conclusion that falls apart the moment Part-I marks are added in.

That mix-up has not happened here. The card lists all sixteen theory papers — both parts — plus the three practicals.

Theory papers add to 1027. The three practicals add 60. Together, 1087 — matching the figure printed on the face of the card. The aggregate is a Part-I and Part-II combined total out of 1100, exactly like the totals used on the position holder page.

Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Islamiyat carry full marks across both parts — 150 out of 150 in each of the four science and mathematics subjects, 100 out of 100 in Islamiyat. Three more marks anywhere in those language papers and the first position conversation would have looked different.

Where 1087 marks belong on merit

Slot the card into the gazette list and the top four fall on four consecutive numbers.

Merit order by marksMarksPercentageNameStatus on the gazette
1108999.00%Afeera IjazListed as first
2108898.91%Amna NaumanListed as second
3108798.82%Rameen AbbasNot on the page
4108698.73%Huzaifa HaiderListed as third

Nothing complicated is being claimed here. No re-marking, no dispute over a grace mark, no request to revisit a paper. Two board documents carry two numbers, and 1087 is larger than 1086.

Mistake, omission, or something else?

Parents ask this immediately, and the honest answer is that a result card and a gazette page cannot establish intent. They can only show that two records disagree. Anyone claiming to know why from these two images alone is guessing.

What can be said is that the ordinary explanations are administrative, and there are several of them:

  • The position list was frozen before a correction reached it. Position pages are compiled and sent for printing while marks records are still being cleaned. If a mark was added, restored or corrected after the compilation query was run, the position page would carry the older picture.
  • The record sat outside the pool that was sorted. Position lists are generated from a filtered dataset, not eyeballed. If a candidate’s record carried a flag — a pending case, an incomplete institution code, a late-updated practical entry — the row can be absent from the sorted output entirely rather than mis-ranked inside it.
  • A position eligibility rule was applied. Boards commonly restrict position awards to candidates who cleared every paper in a single first attempt as regular candidates from an affiliated institution, and exclude candidates who improved Part-I marks, appeared privately, or carried a paper forward. If such a clause was applied in this case, the family deserves to be told which one and on what ground, in writing.
  • A transcription slip during compilation. Position pages are laid out by hand from a merit extract. A digit dropping or a row being skipped during that step is not exotic.

Against these, the deliberate-mischief reading has a problem: the positions at stake here are third versus fourth in one group. There is no scholarship ladder, no admission quota and no board prize that turns on that particular swap in a way that would be worth an official’s risk. A quiet clerical failure explains the same facts without requiring anyone to have done anything.

That is not the same as saying the family should let it go. An error nobody reports is an error that stands on the record forever, and the certificate, the school’s honours board and every future CV entry are all built on that record.

A clue from the humanities list

The humanities group page, issued the same day under the same heading, is worth putting beside the science page — because it shows how the board’s own sorting behaves when the marks get tight.

PositionMarksRoll No.NameInstitution
First10371806920Fatima ZahraCB Public Girls School & College, Officer Colony, Wah Cantt
Second10311300183Muhammad MaazInstitute of Islamic Sciences, Satra Meel (F.A), Islamabad
Second10311806500Manaal ZahidDHA Senior School for Girls, Phase-V, DHA, Lahore Cantt
Third10231811007Aneesa NisarPakistan Education Academy, Dubai, U.A.E

Two candidates tied at 1031 and both were awarded second position. The board did not break the tie arbitrarily, did not drop one of them, and did not skip the third slot afterwards. Whoever compiled that page was working from exact marks and handled a joint case correctly.

Which points away from a sorting failure in the science group and towards the record simply not being in the pile when the sort ran. A sort that can catch a tie at 1031 does not casually place 1086 above 1087.

For readers who want the published lists for both groups side by side, the full set is compiled on our Federal Board 10th class position holders 2026 page.

What the board’s own disclaimer allows

At the foot of the result card sits a line most students scroll past. It states that the result gazette is issued provisionally, that errors and omissions are excepted, and that it stands as a notice only — with the actual certificate to be issued on the basis of the original record held at the board office.

That single paragraph cuts in a useful direction here. The board has already reserved the right to correct what it publishes, and it has already said the office record, not the printed notice, is what governs. A family bringing a discrepancy forward is not fighting the board’s position; they are using a route the board itself wrote into the document.

What the family can do now

The order matters. Doing these out of sequence wastes weeks.

  1. Keep both documents together in original form. The printed result card and a clean copy of the position holder page from the official gazette, not a forwarded screenshot with a WhatsApp compression stamp on it.
  2. Re-add the totals by hand and write the working on a separate sheet. Sixteen theory papers, three practicals, the sum on the face of the card. An examiner reading the application should be able to follow the arithmetic in thirty seconds.
  3. Apply for scrutiny or rechecking of the result within the board’s stated window. FBISE sets the fee and the deadline for each session and publishes both on its official website — take those from the board directly rather than from anything circulating on social media, and hold on to the fee receipt.
  4. Put the position query in writing, separately. Rechecking looks at the answer scripts and totals. It does not automatically revisit a position list. A short, dated letter addressed to the Controller of Examinations, stating the roll number, the marks on the card, the marks printed against the third position, and a request for the position record to be examined, is what puts the second issue on file.
  5. Route it through the school on institution letterhead. Correspondence from an affiliated institution moves faster inside an examination wing than a private letter, and the school has its own reason to pursue it.
  6. Record every diary number, receipt number and date. If the case has to be escalated later, the paper trail is the case.
  7. Ask for the outcome in writing either way. If a rule excluded the candidate from position eligibility, the family is entitled to know which rule. If the marks stand and the list was wrong, ask for a corrected notification rather than a verbal assurance.

Nothing on this list requires a lawyer, a contact inside the board, or a social media campaign. It requires the documents and a written record.

Checking your SSC-II result by roll number

While this case runs its course, the practical question for most readers is a simpler one — pulling up their own matric result without fighting the official portal on result day, when it is slow for hours at a stretch.

Results for both groups are available on our board pages, science and general alike:

  1. Open the FBISE 10th class result page.
  2. Enter your roll number in the search box exactly as printed on your roll number slip.
  3. Select your class — 10th class for matric candidates, or the relevant class if you are checking an intermediate result.
  4. Select the exam year, 2026 for the current session.
  5. Click the Search Result button.

Your full marks sheet loads on screen — subject-wise theory marks, practical marks where they apply, the total, and the pass status. From there it can be saved or printed for admission files.

A few points that save people a phone call:

  • The gazette prints the science stream as Science Group and the arts stream as Humanities Group. Plenty of students search for “general group result” instead, because that is what schools call it locally. Both streams are covered; the label on the official page is the one shown above.
  • A roll number typed with a space or a missing digit returns nothing. Check it against the slip before assuming the result is not out.
  • Marks shown against a provisional notification can be revised. The DMC collected from the school is the document admissions offices will ask for.

Everything the Federal Board publishes across matric and intermediate sessions is gathered on the FBISE board section, including gazette notifications, position lists and supplementary schedules as the board releases them.

Urdu result page for matric students

Not every household reads a marks sheet comfortably in English, and parents are usually the ones checking on result day while the student is still at school. The same 10th class result search runs in Urdu here: ایف بی آئی ایس ای دسویں جماعت کا نتیجہ.

The steps are identical — roll number, class, exam year, then the search button. The output is the same marks sheet with the interface in Urdu.

Keep your own marks tally every year

The reason this discrepancy was caught at all is that somebody sat down with a result card and added the papers up. That habit is worth building well before result day arrives.

  • Write down the marks from every paper as soon as the result is out, Part-I and Part-II both, and total them yourself.
  • Compare your own total against the figure printed on the card. They should match to the mark. If they do not, that alone is grounds for scrutiny.
  • Save a photograph of the roll number slip, the result card and the DMC in one folder on your phone. Roll number slips go missing at exactly the moment they are needed.
  • Note the last date for rechecking applications the same week the result is announced, not a month later. Those windows are short and boards do not reopen them.

Students at the top of a merit list have the most to lose from a clerical slip and the least reason to expect one. A candidate at 1087 out of 1100 has nothing to gain from complacency about paperwork.

Inter students should run the same check

Everything above applies just as much one stage up. HSSC position lists are compiled the same way, from the same kind of merit extract, with the same combined Part-I and Part-II aggregate — and the marks at the top of an FSc pre-medical or pre-engineering list are packed just as tightly as these matric totals.

If you are in 2nd year, whether that is FA, FSc, ICS or ICom, or you are checking a grade 12 result for admission purposes, the same arithmetic discipline is worth applying. Add your Inter Part 1 and Inter Part 2 marks yourself. Compare the total against what the intermediate result card prints. Where an admission merit list is being drawn on aggregate marks, a single mark can move a candidate across a cut-off in a way that no appeal after the admission deadline can undo.

Intermediate candidates checking an HSSC result use the same search fields as matric students — roll number, class, exam year, then the Search Result button.

Questions students are asking

Does 1087 automatically make her a position holder?

On marks alone, yes — 1087 ranks above the 1086 printed against third position. Whether that converts into an awarded position depends on whether the board applied any eligibility clause to her candidature, which only FBISE can confirm. The marks question and the eligibility question are separate, and both need a written answer.

Could the result card be wrong instead of the gazette?

It could. The card carries the board’s own provisional disclaimer, and the sixteen paper entries could in principle contain a data-entry error that the total simply reflects. That is exactly what scrutiny establishes — the office record settles which of the two documents matches the original award of marks.

Will the position holder currently at third lose his place?

If the marks stand as printed, the merit order shifts and he moves to fourth. That is not a claim against him and nothing on either document reflects on his result — 1086 out of 1100 is an extraordinary performance whether it carries a position label or not. Boards have issued corrected notifications in past sessions when a record was found missing from a list.

How long do these cases take?

There is no fixed answer, and anyone quoting a specific number of days is inventing it. Scrutiny outcomes generally arrive within a matter of weeks; a position list correction involves the examination wing and takes longer. Filing early in the window is the only part of the timeline the family controls.

Where can the official position list be verified?

The gazette notification issued by FBISE is the primary source, and the board’s own website carries it. Our compiled version of both group lists sits on the position holders page for readers who want the science and humanities pages together.

Two documents, both issued by the Federal Board for the 1st Annual Examination 2026, disagree by a single mark — and that one mark decides whether a name from Bahria Foundation College appears on the science group position page at all. Until the board examines the record and says otherwise, the arithmetic on that result card holds: sixteen theory papers, three practicals, 1087 out of 1100.

The family’s route is a scrutiny application and a written query to the examination wing. Every other matric and intermediate candidate reading this has a smaller job — add up your own papers, check the total against the card, and do it while the rechecking window is still open.
