What is PECTAA and Why Does It Matter for Your Result?
PECTAA — the Punjab Education, Curriculum, Training and Assessment Authority — is an apex body established by the Government of Punjab. It brings curriculum development, teacher training, and student assessment under one institutional roof. Prior to PECTAA, Grade 8 board examinations were handled by the Punjab Examination Commission (PEC). The restoration of Class 8 board exams under PECTAA marks a major shift toward standardised, transparent, and outcome-based evaluation across the entire province.
According to the official PECTAA website, the authority functions through three core wings: Academics, Operations, and Monitoring & Evaluation — ensuring that exams, curriculum, and teacher development are all aligned toward one goal: improving learning outcomes for every child in Punjab.
